Were there any friendly fire incidents involving American submarines, aircraft carriers, or battleships during World War II or World War I?

USS Pompano was mistakenly bombed by aircraft from USS Enterprise but managed to escape.

Oh yeah. These kinds of incidents are quite common even in modern war, let alone back then.
